Canon 40 D, yeahhhhh baby

I've just bought the Canon 40D, oh my god, what a camera, I love it. It craps all over my Olympus, it's BLOODY GORGEOUS.

Just waiting to pick up an adapter for my telescope and I'll be away with the fairies.
And as for macro shots, ahhhhhhhh I'm in heaven.

The 40D has whats called live view mode. Does this mean that you can zoom in to the picture and get a real time update of the focus on screen at high zoom? ie focus in real-time on a star for best focus?

Yes..sort of..maybe. I tried that with my 40D but found I needed a bright star to do it. I was shooting 47 Tuc but could not focus on it in Live View. I ended up using Achernar which may have been too bright. I had some mirror shift issues when slewing from Achernar to the glob. If you use a newt or a refractor you would probably have better success.

I have yet to determine what the limiting magnitude of Live View is.

Great news Sandy, I'm about to buy one as well, an update on the trusty 20D.

I wish I could get that excited! Sounds good and let us know how it performs.
