Can't get image with GStar-EX3 astro-video camera

I am not able to get a star image from my GStar-EX3 astro video camera despite many attempts.
I can get an image of the moon and also daylight objects. So the USB comms to my computer work using the ToupSky software that is supplied with the camera. It appears that I am just not getting the settings right for fainter objects.

Has anyone had similar experiences with this type of camera that they have managed to resolve ?

your exposure time for deep space should be in the tens of seconds not milliseconds 30 seconds plus

Also for deep space you are better off taking stills not video
