Experience with Teleskop Giant Binoculars

Hi All,

Was wondering if anyone has had experience with these binos as they seem reasonably priced even including delivery to Aus?

http://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/...eyepieces.html

The only thing I have concerns with is it says they are not collimated?

I am tossing up between these binos and the Andrew's Communication Giant 25 x 100 BT 45 which are double - looks like the same manufacturer as the Oberwerk Giant Binos.

Thanks for your help

If you read through the specifications they state that they are colimated in the factory, as are all binoculars. Teleskop- Express have a good reputation

"TS Optics guarantee of quality
All binoculars from TS Optics are checked for proper optical performance and adjustment by our technical department."

A very tempting price for 100mm semi apo binos.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for confirming. I saw in the description for these binos had and it had me thinking:

♦ Optic is decollimated - must be collimated. Also perfect for building of 2 Semi-Apo refractor telescopes.

Really tempted to order today get this as the price to get it here is quite cheap.

Some of their blurb is just bad translation of German to English, I think what is meant that if the tubes were separated they would be fine stand alone 100mm F5 scopes. Not that anyone would be sacreligeous enough to do that.

Hi Jeff,

One thing I have noticed is it looks like they have same scope with the same specs but one is nearly double the price or am I missing something here?

http://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/...eyepieces.html

The one I just purchased:
http://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/...eyepieces.html

The specs look the same?

The 2nd link doesn't work, maybe the one you ordered was a one off special and the add has been discontinued now you've bought them. The price was considerably cheaper than what I had seen before for these binos and now they are listed at just over 1000 Euro , $ 1.6k AUD approx , which is more in tune with previously listed prices on their site.
If , indeed you get them for the price you first posted about, you have scored a good deal.

Interesting... I looked earlier this evening and couldn't spot any difference in what was offered. Both links worked a few hours ago but as you say TS have now pulled the second link. Must have made a pricing mistake and they've twigged to it.

Seems you scored a bargain.

You can better get these 100mm binos, these are 90 degree angled which is much more comfortable than straight-through, particularly when close to the zenith.

I saw this was already mentioned by @m11.

But they cost EU$1200 == A$1800 (plus import tax).

Hi Mel
If the order has been confirmed , at the price shown, you have definitely scored a fantastic bargain, well done. I've sort of had a desire to get a large pair of right angled binos', having used a binoviewer for a few years now and enjoyed the views through them. Looks like I missed out on a great chance.

I hope the customs won't charge you import tax.... but even then it is a very good deal.

EDIT: I saw on this site that you are lucky:
