First post on these forums

Up in western Victoria, really into photography but have wanted to get into space work, have been doing Milky Way work for about a year with just my camera and tripod.

Anyway - I have a good location available near here for dark DARK work, also happy to tag along with more knowledgable members!!

Super amazing night at Kinglake on Sunday night, the views were simply spectacular! Peter bought his 14" monster dob and saw some pretty amazing things. I managed to get some good data on the chicken neb, and in the mean time set up a 2 hour star trail pic (See attached, or see here for more details - http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...47#post1052947). Wish I lived somewhere dark now Cant wait for next time John

Nice photo Meru, I liked the green laser providing an point of interest
Thanks also for helping me out with getting Stellarium and EQMOD started. I am still sorting out my images for the night, but all I can say is when the sensor is running at 30c, it's pretty noisey!

great Photo Meru!
It was a wonderful night - thanks to John for his hospitality.
John was saying that I should warn people about the rapid onset of aperture fever before they look through the 14" Skywatcher

After a lengthy contract overseas I'm back in the country and will be very interested in finally getting up to John's place sometime in the future. Glad the thread has had wheels and that gatherings are still occurring! Cheers, John.

Hi everyone.

Well after a horrible last few months it looks like Saturday 23rd is looking to be a nice clear night with no moon or at least till the early hours.

Anyone interested in getting out of the LP of Melbourne is welcome to come along for a fun night under the stars. But dress warm as it does get cold.

Just let me know

Cheers

John,

sounds good .... although I've said that before and never actually come along !!!!

Will monitor the weather and confirm later in the week.

If it's a goer I'll be bringing the 18" SDM.

Thanks for the invitation

Paul

Hi John,
If the weather holds we'll be back with our 14" SkyWatcher.
What time are people planning on getting there?
