Comet 17P Holmes

Hello,
I live in Northeast Florida and our skies have been overcast for about a week. A friend and I decided to take a bit of a road trip to find clear skies. We wanted to see Comet 17P Holmes,so we drove about 160 miles south until we found a break in the clouds. It took about 10 seconds to spot the comet. It was fantastic!! The core is large and dense with a very large coma. In the binoculars it looked a little bit gray nakedeye it looked yellow. This is the 2nd best comet I have seen . 2nd only to Hale Bopp.
A friend took some comparitive pictures from his observatory. The 1st one is from 10-26-07 the 2nd one is from 10-28-07http://www.orbitjetobservatory.com/Comet%2017P_Holmes_size_comparison. htm
I hope some of you will be able to see this comet.
Good luck,
Dennis O'Day

Thanks for the report and images Dennis, i'm considering a trip to find clear skies myself!

I'll head North though, to at least gain a little bit of altitude as I travel

I had a reasonably clear northern aspect last night so I tried to find it just near Algol near midnight.

Will try again later.
