Corona Australis region

The Corona Australis Molecular Cloud, a dark molecular cloud with many embedded reflection nebulae, including NGC 6729, NGC 6726–7, and IC 4812. A star-forming region of around 7000 M☉,it contains Herbig–Haro objects (protostars) and some very young stars. About 430 light years (130 parsecs) away, it is one of the closest star-forming regions to the Solar System.

GSO 10" F4 Newtonian, ZWO ASI 183mm Pro cooled to -10C, Red 508 x 30 seconds, Green 426 x 30 seconds, Blue 452 x 30 seconds, total 1386 x 30 seconds or about 11.6 hours and it's still screaming for more. I wasted 2 nights with poor framing. The observatory wet with dew after every session.

Great shot Kevin. It's an amazingly complex part of the sky. So much happening there. Coincidentally I'm in the middle of trying to capture the same thing. Only time for a few reds and greens last night before the clouds came. Maybe tonight...

Thanks Kevin. Hope the sky is good for you. We had 5 nights clear in a row. First time this year!

A great looking photo Kevin.

I love the colours.

You've got your new equipment working so well.

Thanks Glen and Ross. I haven't had much time to use it though for cloud. I need more practice.

Great job & a nice result Kevin.
I’m curious though, as to why you take zillions of 30 sec subs, instead of 20% as many longer, say 5 min subs?
Cheers
Andy

A rather late reply Andy, but it all started when I was shooting DSLR without guiding. With a fast scope the concept works well.

SO with shorter subs I can

Sometimes dispense with guiding.
Get less flex from the guidescope when I am guiding.
30s can shoot in cloud gaps that longer subs can't.
Less satellite trails.
Bad subs easily deleted without much loss.

There's likely other reasons I forgot about.

Alrighty then, makes sense - I like the idea of shooting through cloud gaps!
