Vela SNR fragment

This is a work in progress. It consists of 3 hours RGB only, and needs lots of Ha and OIII - which isn't going to happen this month.

This part of the Vela SNR is centred on 8:29:15; -44:17:13 and the fov is about 3 x 2.3 degrees. The Vela pulsar is at the top edge of the frame about 1/6th of the width from the left.

The image was shot from Somers Vic. SQL only average at ~21, and Humidity varied from 87% to 99.4% during the run.

Set-up was Officina OS130 with reducer flattener at f/3.9; G3-16200 camera; Astrodon filters; DDM60 mount unguided.

Processed in PI and finished in PS. - can't wait for the NB, but I'll have to

That shows a lot of the filamentary stuff already, Mark. Should be a cracker with added NB data!

Agree with Rick, looking very nice already Mark

I love the Vela SNR imaging season, lots of variety in images and much less tiring viewing than the Eta Carina imaging season

For just 3 hours RGB you’ve picked up a lot of the nebulosity, good co ready

Narrowband will take it to that next level

Marc, all subs were my standard 5 min - based on the pixel size and f ratio of the image train.

Thanks for looking - I think the OIII in particular will transform this one...

Skysurfer, the camera is a CCD with external filter wheel. In this instance, R,G and B all shot separately for 12 subs each of 5min duration.
