Comparison of QHY168 Mono vs QHY168 Colour

One of QHY's Beta testers has done some comparisons with QE comparing the colour version and the debayered version. This was to test what the loss of QE is with the microlens removed.

He found the Blue channel lost 12% in sensitivity, Green lost 6%, Red increased by 32% and Luminescence increased by a whopping 60%.

Looking good for when they go into full production.

Interesting, especially that the red channel increased after removal of the micro lenses. Maybe the Bayer filter had a strong IR-cut?

The QHY247 with the 24MP IMX193 would be more appealing to me personally.

I read the document a couple of times and still wasn't completely clear on the test methodology.

I reckon you could have got away with air quotes there Rick

Sounds to me like they stuck a filter wheel with the same filters on in front of both the colour and debayered sensors and just measured...

Sorry, Dunk. I'm old school and don't do air quotes

That's what I thought too, so not sure what that proves...

I also posted this on SGL as well and the response was his methodology is flawed and doesn't really prove anything.
I guess we will have to wait until he does some testing through his telescope before an opinion can be formed.
