Meade X wedge / Lx90 12 inch

will this combo on a standard field tripod tip over?
Also, how the hell do we do a proper polar alignment? i believe the tangent arm faces north and the wedge's slope faces south. Now, does the Lx90's GPS recognise that we have aligned to the south celestial pole and not the north celestial pole when we set it to polar mode?

For the 12 inch Meade LX 90 you should be using the Meade Giant Field Tripod which came with the scope, not the standard tripod as used for the 8 and 10 inch models. The Giant Field Tripod will be stable. You also have to go into Utilities and chose Equatorial over Alt Az, then set to home position pointing to the South Celestial Pole.

Thanks for yr reply John.. i am really unsure if mine is a giant field tripod.. i think it a standard tripod (but certainly looks like a giant to me).. the 12inch LX200 comes with a giant field tripod.. the 12 inch lx90 comes with the standard tripod
