Jupiter 2 Jan 2015

Happy New Year to all!

Thought I share this effort with the ASI MC120.. Finally some detail begins to show through after many nights of ordinary seeing. Imaged in wee hours of Saturday morning around meridian crossing time ( 4am here in Canberra ). WinJupos derotated image, three individual 90 second exposures of best 2000 frames ( South at top ). Deconvolved, gamma and colour corrected with Astra Image.

Thanks for looking,
Seb

Thanks Russel and John, it's certainly looking promising.. Here's slightly better quality stack later in the morning.

Inspiring Captures & animation there Sebastian.
Im looking forward to this Juup season and tackle the Planet imaging side of things with my recent addition 12" Meade acf. Have use the 'ol C8 upto now which worked reasonably well with good seeing
I had the 12 out just for a quick practice run the other night, Mind you - the Seeing was totally Shock Horror 1/5

Well done Sebie, persistence is the key, sometimes the actual conditions vary considerably from the predictions.

Regards

Thanks Bob. Yeah.. seeing is definitely king. I just set the FireCapture to auto mode and hope for that elusive atmospheric hole to roll in he he ;-) Focusing is always a challenge in variable conditions - I found that locking of the mirror does not always stop flops and focus shifts from occurring. Looking forward to your ACF efforts!

Thanks Trevor, wishing for more settled weather soon.
