New possible nova in Sagittarius, 27 Sept 2015

A new PNV is up on CBAT's Transient Objects Confirmation Page (TOCP), discovery magnitude 9.9 U. The Japanese nova hunters were all over this one, two others claiming independent discovery - congratulations guys!

I don't think there's been spectroscopic confirmation yet - probably a reasonable target for southern spectroscopists despite the Moon. Attached is a confirmation image I took last night in strong moonlight and between clouds - rough!

Hi All

I've made 2 visual observations of this nova and it has brightened 0.7 mag in the last 24 hours. As of Sept 28.48UT, I estimated it at mag 9.0.

Good work Andrew! My results aren't too dissimilar, 9.6 last night, 8.8 tonight (28.49 Sept 2015 UT) using TYC6854-1315-1 (8.48) & TYC6854-2819-1 (9.08) as comp stars. In dark skies it might be possible for me to get a spectrum - here's hoping it continues to brighten!

EDIT: The AAVSO has a chart now which gives me a revised estimate of 9.0 using comp stars 88 & 91!

I have taken 2 spectra of this nova now. The first on 29/9 with a V mag of 9.16 and also last night 5/10 with a V mag =9.04
The sectra have changed dramatically over the 5 days.

Top work Terry! There's a new galactic nova in Aquila, heavily obscured & highly reddened, RA 19:21:50.08, Dec 15:09:25 (J2000). V is in the mag 15s (!) but in I it's in the mag 10s. Could be a bit challenging.
