The Moon and Venus on a frosty morning

Following on from a post some time ago of mine regards how modest equipment can be surprising.

The Moon and Venus near sunrise taken this morning as I was leaving for work. Camera was an iPhone S.

I have been getting up early for the last week to feed ponies before I go to work and this morning had a beautiful vista of Venus, the Moon, Orion and the Pleiades right there in front of me but the phone could only manage the Moon and Venus. The first shot shows the low light limits of these types of cameras, the second was half an hour or so later as I was leaving for work.

One of those times when the human eye really does do better (For lack of access to settings in the phone to get a longer exposure and the ability to hold it steady enough to make use of it)

This morning made me wish I had the time to run inside and grab a proper cam and tripod to take a decent shot.
