Meade Light Switch alignment problems
Hello all,
maybe some-one can help.
I have ended up trying to get a Meade Light switch 8 inch going.
It is with AutoStar III hand control software version 1.6d. The CD has V5.53 of Autostar Suite.
Initial tests showed a "flash read error" when trying to do automatic align, or a Alt-AZ 2 star alignment. Managed to do a single 1 star alignment, but could not repeat that success. The autoseaking was working, taking images etc, but was probably beaten by clouds.
It looks like the AutoStar suite installed on my laptop does communicate with the telescope but only after I select LS. The option to create a new flash file does not seem to work. I can't find how to get an updated set of files for the mini-SD card.
A min-SD card did come with the telescope. I used that that to "update" the program in the telescope.
Tests last night did not throw the error. However I could not get the telescope to align.
Being hopeful I tried the auto align. The telescope for find level and north, get to acquiring GPS, probably found them because it said Calculating .... However it did not proceed to search for alignment stars.
and jumped to "Guided tour"
Similar behaviour when doing either a 1 star or 2 star Alt AZ alignment.
It would do the initial leveling and north finding, acquire GPS then to "tour".
One possibility is that it could not find GPS position and time.
I'll try again.
The other is that I need to put a new set of software onto the telescope.
So ...
How do I update the hand controller softer from 1.6d to latest?
Where/how to I get the latest or even working copy of the flash software?
Any other hints?
I can find a 6.0 version of Autostar suite on web, but am having trouble installing it... I'll try again with a clean install rather than on top of the 5.53 version.
