Shocks and Tendrils of the Vela Supernova Remnant

Here is my latest portrait of the Vela Supernova remnant. I have mapped the Hydrogen alpha data to red and the OIII data to teal. One version includes the RGB stars at the expense of detail in the nebulosity. For the other version, the stars were removed using Starnet ++ to emphasise the intricate tendrils of the Oxygen nebulosity. I think I prefer the version with no stars because of intricate detail revealed. I know some of you consider star removal a tedious fad, but it does reveal more detail in the nebulosity. Please feel free to offer a different opinion.

Technical Details:

Borg 55 mm f/3.6 Astrograph, Astrodon 3-nm H alpha and OIII filters, QSI 683wsg camera. Mount: EQ8. Two part mosaic imaged from suburban Sydney.

Hydrogen alpha: 64 x 20 minutes = 21 hours, Oxygen III: 61 x 20 minutes = 20 hours.

Software: Nebulosity 4, PHD 2, PixInsight, StarNet++, Lightroom and Photoshop.

Very cool Murray. Lot of work going into that and it shows. Not usually a fan of starless but I really like this. One for the poolroom.
PS: I cannot unsee the cows now either. Print it and get it framed.
