Gravitational-wave & radio observations of merging neutron stars - a new cosmic ruler

Using a combination of gravitational-wave and radio observations,
along with theoretical modelling, astronomers have demonstrated
a new "cosmic measuring stick" for determining the expansion rate
of the universe by looking at neutron star mergers.
