28th September Lunar Eclipse

I am certain I am reading this correctly but the Lunar Eclipse on the 28th September 2015 is not visible at all in Australia. Is that correct?

No Mark - sadly, we don't get a look in: maximal eclipse is centred over South America.

I will get it here but it's not the best timing, it'd mean an all nighter on a Sunday through Monday morning.
I'll have to see what we can figure out as it gets a bit closer.

Eclipses visible next few years

Lunar eclipses tend to be roughly visible in clusters from each side of the world. At times, visibility alternates hemisphere. This past 2 years, we've seen them in this hemisphere, now the other side of the world gets a better deal for a couple of years.

Next total lunar eclipses visible from Oceania are : -

JAN 31, 2018

TOTAL

AU/NZ

JUL 27, 2018 TOTAL WA-SEES WHOLE ECLIPSE.
MOONSET DURING ECLIPSE EAST AU & NZ

Some partial and penumbral eclipses are visible but the next total lunar eclipse visible from Australia after July 2018 is in 2021.

A total solar eclipse will be visible from Indonesia/Micronesia on Mar 9 2016. It can also be observed as a partial solar eclipse from Northern Australia. The visibility zone cutoff for the partial eclipse is anywhere north of a line from Gladstone to Cameron Corner to the top of the Great Australian Bight to Bunbury. Obscuration is only a few percent from this line. Darwin sees a 50% obscuration eclipse. Not visible from SE Australia (NSW, VIC, TAS, or south east SA.)

Next total solar eclipses visible in Australia outlook to 2030 are :
April 2023 (Exmouth area WA only)

July 2028 (Kimberley, Tennant Creek, Bedourie-Birdsville, Bourke, Dubbo, Mudgee, Sydney)

NOVEMBER 2030 (Streaky Bay, Parachilna, Flinders Ranges, Tibooburra, Cunnamulla, Miles & Chinchilla)

Joe
