Boston Dynamics' Spot Robot Dog Now Available for USD74,500

Boston Dynamics has begun selling online its Spot robotic dog for commercial
and academic users. It is initially available in the form of an "Explorer Kit".

With a price tag for commercial users of USD74,500, it is not exactly cheap.
But given the years of research and development that has gone into it
and the premium that typically comes with being an early adopter, only
companies or organisations with real applications in mind will be able to
ascertain whether that represents good value for them or not.

For example, some organisations might be happy for Spot to enter some
dangerous environment where otherwise a human life might be at risk.

However, perhaps the commercial introduction of an autonomous robot
like Spot heralds the start of an age when such technology starts to
become commonplace.

SpaceX has been testing SPOT at its launch facility in Boca Chica Texas. Apparently they have a methane sniffing version of SPOT, that can locate leaks in critical fueling infrastructure.

I'm surprised they're not integrated with seal teams yet.

I wonder if it transforms into Blot when the engines fire?
