Video of ASV dark sky site

I took this video of the Astronomical Society of Victoria's dark sky site recently. Might be interesting for anyone who hasn't visited us yet.

Taken with a DJI Phantom and a GoPro Hero3 camera.

Here it is:

Enjoy.

Cool! How do you find that quadcopter? Is it easy to fly, and can you tell which way the camera is pointing?

It's amazing. Very easy to fly, very stable even in windy conditions. It uses GPS to hold its location or fly home and land in the event of an emergency.
I have a FPV kit on the way and the new Zenmuse Gimbal looks very tempting.

Very easy to fly - have a look at the how to fly videos on the DJI website. Still, you need to study the instructions of course.
It has bright red and green lights underneath so you can tell which is front and back - this is the easiest way to ensure the camera pointing the right way. For navigation you can use 'home lock' or 'course lock' mode so you don't need to worry about which way its pointing.
The FPV kit allows you to see what the GoPro (or a small camera) sees in real time, so that will make it even easier.

It's on the cutting room floor :-)
I've had a few close calls, but I still haven't crashed it yet....

Fantastic James.

I haven't been to the LMDSS yet. Great view of it!
I think I've also found a new toy to wish I had!
