1 Cent

Cent-aurus A

Got a lowly 1 hr 30 on it before the gumtree intervened. I need to invest in a chainsaw that makes cuts that look like natural rot... . This was just a filler anyway while I awaited Corona Australis to rise sufficiently above the roof and treetops.

Absolutely no sign of the jets Mike found....unless you count the one sub thrown out because of SQ B777 departing Canberra for Singapore causing a mini-quake (I think he was pushing N1 Max last night - a real rumble-grumble departure). Nice to see the 1.44° field I get with this FSQ-85 + STF8300 covers the nearby galaxy cluster too.

Yeah, no...I am not going back here - it's a boring subject IMHO and just something to pass the time. Shoddy couldn't give a damn processing with a median mask hiding a lot of noise

Thus, the link to the gap filling abomination: https://www.astrobin.com/full/343521/0/?nc=user

Well processed, visually pleasing, shows hints of the extended lobes. Time well spent.

Similar field if view and the exposure time was only 1h13m so for me it's an interesting experiment

It is indeed interesting to see and compare what we can both get in similar time (perhaps with Cent-A being so bright, it is not a perfect test).

My 85mm is working at f/5.4, and your 279.4mm working at f/2.2 - we should try something fainter like Corona Australis - see my 4 hour hash-up.

No offence to those that like Cent-A...just not my flavour of Scotch.

Yep, I stood on nearby Mt. Majura and took an image of the Royal Australian Mint

Technically shouldn't have bothered imaging last night - smoke was pretty bad and a 67% moon. No wonder I am having significant difficulty extracting much out of Herschel Ray...I won't embarrass myself with that one

Actually it's a pretty good shot at that FL. You've got all the details you can expect to get given your image scale. With careful processing I reckon you can get some nice saturated star colours and better star profiles for your fov then you'll have one for the poolroom. You already have the data for it
