I feel for you Tony, having been through a fire ourselves.

We are waiting to see if some friends place has survived. They were staying to defend, we know that the fire has gone across their place but that is it. We also have other friends where the husband has decided to stay and fight it alone while his wife has left. I hope he has made the right choice.

I think people who stay to defend don't properly understand the potential ferocity of a fire. I'd only consider staying if there was a fire and smoke proof underground hidey hole of some sort.

I am similar, we abandoned ship as soon as it looked likely that the fire that ultimately went across our place would do that.

One lot of people we have heard from, they have saved all their livestock, shedding and house, the other we don't know if the fire will or has actually got there.

Actually, there are plenty of aboriginals in the UK - by strict definition - in fact anyone of Celtic descent would be within the definition.

You can see it from the Italian "abitante originale" or more correctly from the its Latin origin
