What a Night!

Hi all,

just had to say that last night I had one of those nights where everything just worked - for the first time in years!

My secondhand G11 G1 with Ovision worm is tracking at just under 5 arc secs of PE total uncorrected. (took a bit of adjusting and replacing the old motors with the newest versions). PHD was reporting RMS figures of around .2 arc secs....which in Geelong, which has really poor seeing is remarkable.

SG Pro cooled the camera (QHY9S with CFW2 Filter wheel) over a period of 10 minutes, slewed, plate solved, centered object, then focused after each filter change.....

All of this was amazing!! I have had so many issues with equipment (mostly bought new) in the past that I felt cursed, and often wondered if I'd built my obs on an ancient burial ground...I now can enjoy my hobby now :-)

Automation is a real buzz when it works.....

I have a few questions about LRGB imaging as I,ve only used OSC cameras in the past, but I'll put them elsewhere...

cheers
Gary

Good post I agree that it is a really good feeling when everything works well. The problem is, there you are on a high that everything is going so well - and the people around you really have no idea what you are on about . It's an inherently lonely hobby, but great fun anyway.
