M16 Narrowband close up - 27 hours
Hi everyone,
My go at an M16 Narrowband close up.
27 hours of Ha, Oii and Sii from lock-down central here in Brunswick with 4.5nm filters, AP 900 mount, 9.5" CDK scope, ASI 1600mm camera, all 30 min exposures.
This is actually my first ever full Narrowband image after having these filters for 2 years although I have been using the Ha filter for other images - propbly the only astronomical benefit of being in lock down!
Still a bit of work to do on the colour and I will try to do a full Hubble Pallete.
A real adventure in masks, colour adjustments, layers, star management, dealing with light pollution and street light gradients all whilst processing in PI and CS3.
Can spend several more weeks processing this object!
Stay safe and healthy.
John K.

Fantastic image.
I like the palette - I'm not sure what a "full" Hubble palette would change (then again, I've not yet used it).

Thanks DarkArts - I would like to blend in some more of the Green wisps that we see in the Hubble Pallette on the net - quite subjective I guess.

As a fellow Brunswickian I salute this effort. I've been collecting a bit of M16 data at my remote site, I should pull it out and process some of it!

...and a starless version.
My first attempt at doing a starless image in fact - is it more art than science? Don't know! but it sure is an amazing object and the inter-galactic cloud features of M16 are really amazing and 3D like.
As per original image made up of 27 hours of Ha. Oiii, Sii with an AP900 mount, 9.5" CDK, AS1600mm camera. Used a variety of methods for this including star masks, PI and tone mapping in Photoshop.
Clear skies.
