10" f/5 Newt/dob solid tube OTA, with or without optics

Hi all,

I'm looking for a solid tube from a 10" f/5 Newt, with or without optics.

If it has the spider and primary cell, that is fine. Focuser not a big deal. And if the has the trunnions (alt bearings) on it because it came from a GSO/Skywatcher dob, again not a big deal.

OR, maybe you have a 10" f/5 Newt/dob where the mirrors have seen better days or the mount is cactus, but the tube is still in good shape.

Look, just let me know what you have. I just ask that it not have any dings or nasty scratches on it.

Thanks for looking,

Alex.

Changed my search parameters a little. An OTA without optics could be as rare as Unobtainium...

Thanks for looking,

Alex.

I've got a 10" around f4.7 skywatcher but the optics and focuser are good, I assume that you want a naked tube to put in your own optics.

Hi Simon,

Thanks for your reply. Sent you a PM too.

Yes, I have a 10" f/5 Parks mirror I want to exploit. That is why I'm looking for a 10" tube with optics that may not necessarily be in great condition so I can reuse the tube. I am at the concept stage at this time, looking at different design options, including maybe reworking the primary and secondary assemblies of my very first DIY scope I have the mirrors in. With the total rebuild solution, I am looking at a few different ways of doing things.

HOWEVER, there is another option that could be looked at if the optics in an offered OTA are in good nick - would anyone be interested in that set of mirrors? I can have the tube and you can take the mirrors...

Exploring options

Alex.

Hi again,

A fellow IIS'er was good enough to provide me with some dimensions from his Skywatcher 10" f/4.7 OTA. This tube ends up being too short for an f/5 mirror. Doesn't sound like much of a difference, but it is enough to place the focal plane way too far outside the tube, and need to also use a larger secondary mirror.

So, I really am after a 10" f/5 tube. If you have a 10" f/5 OTA or a 10" f/5 dob, please let me know. With or without the optics I don't mind. If it is a dob you have, it doesn't matter one little bit the condition of the mount as I won't be using it - the tube is what I'm interested in.

Thanks for looking,

Alex.

Anyone have a 10" f/5 OTA or dob as described below that needs a new home?

Anyone know of someone with such an instrument that the owner might be intetested in selling? That would help too.

Thanks for looking,

Alex.
