Hours of astronomical darkness

I've been trying to get some data of M42, Rosette and other Orion'ish objects in the early morning of late. Have really noticed the astronomical twilight time for Brissy ticking back earlier each morning. Was about 4:05am early this month and now about 3:45

As a bit of trivia, this is a graph I cooked up for Brissy a few years ago as part of an imaging spreadsheet. The odds definitely get stacked against you here as summer clouds set in and hours of darkness drop. Freaks me out if I'm staying up late and hear the first early chirps of the dawn chorus around 3:30
Makes it harder to sleep out in the field when you do hit the sack too - bloody birds

I'm hedged against inflationary daylight hours with my SRO investment

I could hear birds at 10CH last night when I went to bed some time between 1 and 2 am.

maybe do an hour of NB each end? - just a thought bubble, but should be OK in much of the twilight.

HeHe - I was thinking of you Rick dammit - getting more and more N hemisphere goodness while our hair goes grey in SE Qld
Its a while since I've been at 10Chain in Spring/summer - will have to keep my ears open tonight and glance at the time.

Shiraz, I've toyed with doing this at Astrofest before, but in real life I'm either setting up or chatting in evening twilight and drunk with tiredness or dewed out just before dawn. No reason I couldn't try it on the Orion region though and see I guess at the end of an automated run come to think of it.....
