Are those the ones from the 80's on a bowling ball-style mount?

Hey, what a gig that could be. Travelling the country on your own outreach program with a trailer of 'scopes in tow!

I 'hate' going to CN's For Sale listings. There is always just so much, so far away and so inaccessible. ( US Con only labels ).
Probably just as well, I don't think my Credit Card would survive.

The easiest way around that is to have a mate in the States who acts as the forwarding address and contact there. They then ship it to you. You can also pay for a company to do this for you too - can't remember the company name though.

I noticed a 17.5" Odyssey - just the thing to couple to my own original 17.5" Odyssey to make a monster binoscope,

I always treat "US con only" as a suggestion. I've had pretty good results when I offer the full asking price, any shipping costs and the 4% paypal fees. I tell them I know it'll be a pain to ship to Australia but I can pay right away. If its a small amount of money I'm prepared to lose it if it all goes pear-shaped but its never happened yet, most astro people are honest to a fault. If its big bucks I try and find their form on CN and Astromart, if its someone with a long and highly regarded history then its unlikely they're going to jeopardise it by stiffing you. My 2 cents.

NZ Post has a facility to do that (although I'm not sure whether that includes purchases from private sellers). They advertise this as "shop as if you live there" or something like that. Does Auspost offer something similar perhaps?

Ive been buying heaps of gear on astromart and cn. I just tell them that I will take it if can be posted to australia, even if conus only, no one has rejected me yet. Usually pay a bit more for postage, maybe $10 extra for an EP. Still works out cheaper.

Have bought a number of EPs (e.g. full set of Stratus for $450 posted!) from CN classifieds and have always had good service. Sellers are more likely to sell International (if they state CONUS only) if the EP has been sitting on the classifieds for a few days. I've picked up a number of Tele Vue smoothies like this where the asking price may be $10-$20 too much in the states but probably $20 under what you would purchase it for in Oz. Plus many second hand EPs are hard to find in Oz but abundant on CN.
