Mudgee

Hi guys,
I am in Mudgee for a rare annual holiday from 8-SEp to 15-SEP.
Will take my scope if "Scope Nights" predicts a nice week. Or at least a few nights.
Heard and read about Illford and would like to get involved.
Is this site suitable for wheel chair people?
Any other sites?
Peter

I live bout 30 km out of Mudgee towards Lue, you're more than welcome here. At my shed it's level crusher dust and quite hard. Good dark sky here too

Wiruna at Ilford is open for the weekend 7th to 9th September.
I am hoping to be there for this weekend
see this link

Not too sure about wheelchair access, I think the toilets have ramps, but not too sure on how wide.

Depending on who is out there will determine whether observing is possible on 9th/10th. sometimes members stay on during the week.

I am sure you will be most welcome on the 8th

John

Oh wow, that is an interesting opportunity.
I read about Wiruna on other threads.
Don't think I can make it on the 08/09/18 though.
We'll arrive in Mudgee on that day and knowing my wife's reaction to the first day out, we'll be pooped.
I'll be highly interested in any future dates of course.
Best Regards,
Peter

Hello Karl,
We have been to the Lue Pottery eight years ago. Still plonk my bananas and oranges into one of his earthy deep brown bowls to store for the work week.
I'll consider your offer to put our scope there when I know more about the current conditions at the time of our stay.
Do you have a German background?
Don't mention the war
I am/was East German and now a certified citizen.
Best Regards,
Peter

Hi Peter,

There is an observatory at Mudgee. If you head out of Mudgee toward Gulgong, there is a left turn-off about 3km out of town that goes to Hill End (The Hill End Rd). The Honey Haven is at that intersection. Proceeding out about 15km on the Hill End Road, at Gratti, is a turn onto a dirt road (Old Grattai Rd) and Mudgee Observatory is about 500m up that dirt road on the right.

The owner is John Vetter -- a good mate of mine (so I am biased)

Best,

L.

Thankyou L.

Never heard about this one. It certainly is a bit tucked away.
I will give it a go if I can't setup near the campground.

Peter
