It's M83 season

I think I've taken like 1 image in the last 6 months. Thanks cloud. Also my observatory batteries died leaving not enough power for the guiding computer. Plus I was lazy so this is unguided.

There's a lot better out there but I need more sky time to practice.

Exposure details. GSO 10" F4 Newtonian, HEQ5 Pro, ZWO ASI 183mm Pro cooled to -10C, Svbony LRGB filter set, Luminance Bin 2, 762 x 30 seconds, Red Bin 4, 182 x 30 seconds, Green Bin 4,160 x 30 seconds, Blue Bin 4, 159 x 30 seconds. Luminance Gain = 300, RGB gain = 400. Total sub frame used 1263 = 10.5 hours unguided.

You're getting some extremely faint extensions there rather nicely.

Well done!

Thanks M&T. I'm having fun with the 183.

Need to amend your name to Galaxycatcher soon Kev.

Honestly, better image than some setups costing 10x as much. Well done!

Impressive image of M83 with an unguided HEQ5 mount
Mounts max payload is 13.5 kg and you probably have at least 15 to 16kg on board
That’s a huge amount of data you have captured there with short subs
Well done !!

Thanks Lewis. Since I've had the observatory I've noticed a change from comets to galaxies. I quite like the little collections of billions of stars.

Thanks Martin! It's pretty overloaded but sheltered in the obs. As long as the balance is good it seems to handle the load... as long as a mouse doesn't fart lol.

Nice one Kevin! Lovely colour and you pulled out those tidal streams very well. Even more impressive considering it was unguided short subs!

Thanks Lee. Old habits die hard lol. Plus it doesn't help that I've been seeing impressive results with some of those tiny ZWO cameras using thousands of really short subs of only a second or two. But I will be guiding more often now, as long as there isn't any cloud when I'm shooting. If there's cloud, I shoot unguided.
