Captured NGC 5128 last night under a 90% waxing moon down at our holiday home south coast near Ulladulla
2 hours integration ( 2 minute dithered guided subs )
Canon 600D unmodded with Baader coma corrector
8” f5 newt on an EQ6-R mount
PHD2
ISO800
Sensor temperature running between 21 and 23 degrees
Stacked in DSS
Processed in Startools
For a near full moon, you've done a great job on the processing to bring out the colour and detail. The good thing about shooting under those conditions is you probably didn't have to use a torch!
Thanks All
Appreciate the kind comments
I chose Centaurus as it was descending from 70 degrees Alt in the south east which meant my OTA was pointing almost in the opposite direction to the moons main glow
Startools , although not a popular processing software , does a fantastic job of removing all types of gradients and the more you experiment with this software the more features you discover which can be utilised in your processing
I don’t use anything else
Thanks again
Cheers
That turned out very well Martin, I’d be happy with the result. I’ve found startools to be a great step up for my processing along side Photoshop. The de-noise module is very good particularly for the DSLR.
Keep up the good work!
I’m making the most of Winter with my DSLR as during summer the sensor temperature is maxing our at 37 degrees on some hot nights
I’m not ready yet to jump across to a OSC camera yet , maybe in a year or two
I think Alex used Startools as well ?
Some people find it too hard to use but after year or so I’m getting some good results especially from DSLR noise ridden frames, light pollution and moon glare etc....
I’m extremely happy how far I’ve come in AP after only 18 months imaging and 3 years into the hobby, thanks to many IIS members advising, guiding and encouraging me along the way !!
