Comet C/2012 K1 (PanSTARRS) 2014 1022. Just a quickie to test the refurbished 6" F5 Newtonian. Clouds wouldn't let me do much more anyway. I like it's diffraction spikes, not something we get with refractors.
Excellent Kevin. I was doing some visual observations of this the night before last under dark skies - it looked very much like this. It's quite an impressive object now, albeit with not much of a visible tail.
Yes Barry, unfortunately the two tails it was sporting have faded considerably now for smaller scopes, though they are still visible from the 20" at the SSO.
Comet C/2012 K1 (PanSTARRS) 2014 October 28 1400UT. Looks like a short ion tail pointing NW. There's also the old broad dust fan to the NE but it's mostly lost in the star trails.
Thanks Mark. No these were all 30 second subs unguided. Most of my comet shots are unguided. The comets mover too fast for very long subs so in a way they are pretty easy to image. Just take lots of short subs and stack on the comet.
