Comet Lovejoy and Glasshouse Mountains

Finally after getting rid of the family I ventured to Mary Cairncross Park up at Maleny to get my personal shot of this great comet.

Sixty second exposure at ISO 800, 18mm lens on a Canon 400d. Some slight processing.

Glad you managed to get out there Mark. I went to MCC the other morning thinking of the magnificent shot with the mountains. Clouds had other ideas though It looks as good as I thought it would.

Thank you all. It is a magnificent spot during the daytime so yes I am happy with the background. I got there at 2am and with the sun coming up the show was over by 3.45am. It was fun.

Well done, Mark! You've captured the distinctive Sunshine Coast skyline exceptionally well. I reckon this would make a great canvas print.

Hi Mark, Grant here from Mount Isa. Was just searching the web and found your photo, very nicely done.
I managed to get one photo http://www.flickr.com/photos/mars73/6570879311/ that turned out OK.

Hi Grant and welcome to ICEINSPACE. You photo looks fantastic. Isn't it amazing what a 30 second shot can turn out when imaging the sky. This is a great website to learn heaps about a broad range of topics. See if the school can come up with the money to get an imaging set up as the kids and parents love it. Any help needed just email me or send me a private message by clicking on my name. Have fun teaching this year as you should with the timetable you have.

Mark
