Thought I share some of my Jupiter attempts over the past three weeks, including opposition day. Conditions were very variable with intermittent cloud cover and turbulent air layer making focusing difficult.. this was particularly true on the 9th ahead of a cold front.
WinJUPOS derotated data, North on top in all images.
Thanks everyone, I had to throw away quite a lot of data lately and push Registax wavelets quite a bit to bring up the detail. Individual stacks deconvolved in AstraImage with Lucy Richardson algorithm. Switching to ASI224MC again now that IR-cut filter is in place.
Only one night out of the last four had reasonably long lasting good seeing period, crunching through ser files now.
That's a wonderful image of Europa and it shadow at Opposition.
During the next few Oppositions, Jupiter is inclined at a lesser angle to us, so that any Moons in transit at that time will appear partly highlighted against their own shadows. (Certainly for Io & Europa, I am not totally sure about the others).
