Larryp - anyone?

Hey guys,

- the title says it all really.

Has anyone heard from or have knowledge of Laurie. He's been pretty consistent on IIS since he joined, but has been off air for a few months now.

Anyone?

That's right Brian, - in one of his last posts he mentioned ongoing medical problems, so yeah, I hope he's ok as you say.

Hello Everyone,

A few months ago, I responded to his ad for some stuff in IIS. He replied in a very cheerful manner (typical of the good crowd we have here) and I arranged payment. I never heard that the payment cleared, and never heard anything from him since. It was a small figure so that's not the issue whatsoever.

A week later, I employed some GoogleFu, and found this:
http://tributes.camdenadvertiser.com...?pid=187160889

Respectfully, perhaps this closes a few lose ends and curiosity. I sincerely apologise if I'm off the mark however.

Regards,
Andy.

Hi Andy,

Thank you for clearing up the mystery, and no of course you’re not off the mark.

It’s always sad when a member passes away and in the time I’ve been here there have been far too many.

Well, belated condolences to his family and hopefully he’s found peace at last. RIP Laurie.

That is not the sort of news I like to hear.
Laurie was a nice fellow and obviously will not only be missed by his family but as a member here.
Its times like this I wish folk could be somehow looking down and in a better place.
A sad day for me I really liked him.

Sad indeed. Larry used to take the time to comment on images posted which gave encouragement to others and as already mentioned, was a gent. RIP

Yes, thank you Laurie for being such a great contributor here. I first came to know Laurie through the Sutherland club. He was one of the early appreciators of fine refractors, purchasing an AP Starfire in the late 1980's. He subsequently went on to own a 155EDT. Looking through Laurie's 5" Starfire convinced me to get into AP ownership in 1991.
RIP.

He was unfailingly positive and polite in my experience. One of nature's gentlemen. Very sad.
