Astrofest Cats Paw

Another Astrofest image, a little over 4 hours on NGC6334 with the SN10, QSI683, EQ8. I think the underlying data is ok however I'm not sure about the processing and hoping for some constructive feedback.

Here's the full res image

Thanks for looking.

It looks pretty good overall but the sky background is blue and it should be charcoal. I would use levels to reduce the blue bias.

Greg.

Yeah, think it’s just a simple background neutralisation would make all the difference. Data looks great.

Looks good Peter. I did this one a fortnight ago and it looks pretty similar to yours. I’ll post in a day or two

Thanks for the feedback Greg. The histogram on this one looked a bit strange when I posted it on Astrobin. I'll have to take another look at what I've done.

Cheers Troy. I'll give that a try.

Thanks Rick. I'm wondering if I did something strange with masks. Will need to take another look.

Repro day today. I've gone back to the base RGB masters and completely re-worked this. For some reason I couldn't get the photometric colour calibration to work so I resorted to the old colour calibration process.

Big version here:

Comments welcome. Thanks for looking

Thanks Troy. There is so much to learn about PI and never enough time. I wish Rick would create a "perform magic on my data" script.

Cheers Rick. I was just taking a look at your flamin cats paw image on Astrobin. The Cerevelo and 17 hours with Ha and OIII really sets the bar.

Thats come together well, Peter, & nice adjustments with the final too

72x210" with an SN 10 F/4, thats a good enough mix
Were there any variations in sub amounts throughout your filter sets ?
Cheers on your work there

Hi Bob. I actually shoot 36 x 5min lum 1×1 and 12 x 2 min each RGB binned 2×2. The total number of subs was 72 and the total integration time was as per astrobin. I enter it as an actual number of subs and average exposure to avoid filling in a bunch of astrobin forms.

Yeah, that's all good, Peter, thanx as I am thinking about mono acquisition and what may be used as a general set of subs when I get into it.
Cheers ..

Thanks for the feedback Mike. It's a bit more saturated than what I would normally do.
