It’s 134 x 5 min subs. Taken on a ASI071MC through a SW Esprit 100 ED on a CGX mount from my backyard in Kellyville, Sydney. Stacked & Processed in PixInsight.
That's a mighty difference! Marvellous how you got out all the dark stuff and the distinct red line next to the horsehead. That line was all but invisible in Lewis' red interpretation of your posted image. You must be so pleased! Do you think you'll be able to apply your new knowledge to the next image or was this a lucky strike?
Definately one for the wall. Excellent effort on this.
Color is amazing as is the detail.....and you’ve done some great work balancing out bright stars and dim dust.
That's an amazing picture Gavin! So you had shutter open for 11 HOURS. Must have been over several nights. Did you bother with darks after all that exposure time? What gain did you set?
Would love to know what modules you used in Pixinsight
I’ve been reading and watching a lot of video tutorials. Learnt a fair bit about noise reduction which has helped also colour saturation and masking. I still used darks, bias and flats Jimmy. 50 dark, 250 bias and I think 50 flats at that stage but I use 70 now. It was over a few nights and at that point it was only visible from 2am at my place so early morning starts.
I think I am going to have this printed on canvas or acrylic and hang it in a panorama format on my lounge room wall. I’m pretty happy with it although I know it could be a lot better.
Thankfully the clouds have rolled away tonight but I think it’s only for tonight so I’m going to make the most of it and get some more data on ngc253.
Sorry jimmyh1555 I forgot to list the modules I used earlier;
After stacking I used;
Dynamic crop
Auto background extraction
Atrouswavelets transformation (there a newer version of this but I’ve stuck with this because I’ve got other things to learn and this does the job).
Histogram transformation
SCNR
Curves transformation
Color saturation
Tgvdenoise
Unsharp mask
I think that was all them. I spent a lot of time adjusting color saturation and curves with different masks over it.
