Crux to Musca (more Astrofest wide field)

Another wide field DSLR image from the Queensland Astrofest. Crux at top right, Musca at bottom left. The Coal Sack stands out nicely and the Running Chicken is at the bottom. Don't miss the Dark Doodad and the glob NGC 4372 at bottom left.

Scope: Zeiss 100mm f/2 Makro-Planar lens
Mount: Star Adventurer
Camera: Nikon D800E

Exposures: 45x120s

Cheers,
Rick.

Superb! You can clearly see the chook and the orange bit of NGC3603 at the bottom. Dark dooda and its cluster is quite prominent as well.

Good one Rick. You are putting your long focal length license on the line.

The data has limitations, Troy, but it's a lot of fun for a change of pace. Perhaps I need to look into a cooled sensor at 100mm FL

Thanks, Pete. I think I just figured out how to fix some of the DSLR colour issues so I hope to do a better repro soon. I also have another panel that will give me a nice Crux to Carina mosaic.

Thanks, David. I reckon the colours are a bit iffy still (dreaded DSLR pink stars with some PI hacking) so I hope to do better...
