Quote:
The TCF focusers do not have a stop switch so we use a “brute force” method of finding home. We drive the focuser inward to a physical stop for the full range of steps plus 1. Most of the 2-inch focusers will reach the physical stop and continue spinning. The 3-inch focusers with a typically heavier load will usually reach the full in point and the motor will stall though the counter continues. In neither case is there any chance of damaging the motor.
The audible tones may change with direction due to the weight load shift – this is normal. Again, no worries about damage to the motor. In the 15 plus years we’ve been making and selling the TCF focusers we’ve only replaced a handful of damaged motors. Those were mostly due to a broken gear in the 50:1 gearhead attached to the motor. These NPM steppers are pretty tough.
I hope this helps,
Jeff.

Thanks

Hi Peter,
I originally thought they were but upon closer inspection I can say that they are not. They came along with a camera and I have never used them.
