Auto Image centering software

Hi all,

During the Lunar eclipse I took as many shots as i could during the gaps in clouds, but then i noticed not all of them are centered. Is there a tool that will help me do this. I am trying to make a video clip in Windows Movie maker, but it would be better if all frames had the moon in center.

Regards
Fahim

I used to use Ninox for planetary images but I'm not sure if it would work on large TIFs.

I'll be interested in any suggestions too because I have a similar issue.

I use ppccentre.exe download - http://www.iceinspace.com.au/downloa...426ec0313b96f9

You have to convert them to BMP's first. If it is eclipse data then the varying light level may cause some problems. There is another version called Ninox but is CMD based software which I am not the best at using.

Mike/Malcolm,
Thanks I too considered Ninox as I have used it for planets some time ago, but I too was not sure it could deal with the varying exposures etc.

It be nice to hear the methods others are using. I have seen a few people post little posters of the various phases and wondered now how did they do it.

Hey Fahim, I use Apple Shake or Adobe After Effects to track and centre the objects.
You can use After FX for free for 30 days, so you can give it a go. It works a treat. There is a basic tutorial here:

I'd love to see your images!

I tried ppmcentre.exe and although is works for circular object it does not work for eclipses.

Just going to post a thread on the second sequence which I tried to use it on with disastrous results.
