Counter Balance Weight

Hi all, I'm chasing up a counter balance weight around 2kg - 2.5kg as I've put a smaller scope on one of my mounts but I only have the 5kg weight which is too heavy.

I've shown in the photo the 5kg weight. If you have one that is half the thickness I'd be interested in buying it.

Please PM me if you have something suitable, cheers.

Dave.

I don't have one for you but, I also faced a similar issue with my Celestron CG5 which came with two 5kg counterweights which were way to heavy for the scope I had mounted.

I ended up locating some New Saxon Counterweights which had the same shaft diameter as my Celestron counterweight shaft...

Came as a set of 1.6kg & 3.5kg weights for around $80 posted to Cairns, Far North Qld..

Here is a link to Saxon's site... not sure if this is helpful for you or not...

Cast it from concrete, using PVC pipe for shaft and plastic bottles for muld.

It is easy to calculate dimensions from wanted weight.

Thanks for the info guys. I have thought of a couple of things myself but would prefer to get the correct weight to keep it all original, second hand if possible.

I only have the two 5kg weights myself for the mount which is no good for smaller lighter loads with one 5kg weight.

Thanks for that Chris, forgot all about Astro Pete.

I checked out the weight section and I'm looking at $49 posted.

What I think I'll do is wait for a cheap reflector and mount setup to pop up locally and tax the weight from it, that way I'll have other spare parts.

Dave - check the diameter of the hole - not all are the same.
