Sunspots on 4 July

4th July, 2.30 pm VIC. A nice lot of sunspots today - had to wait for the clouds to move off - had a couple of minutes to take this single exposure shot in poor conditions. Shows sunspot groups AR 2109 (near left edge), 2107 (low middle) and 2104 (centre of pic and largest group). North to upper left. These groups are moving to the right over the next few days. Taken thru a WO 81 mm scope, Baader wedge and Canon 550d camera. Thanks for viewing, Cheers, John W.

Hi John, Great shot, lots of detail. What exposures are you using, I tried to take a couple of WL images with an Atik CCD the other day with a Lunt Wedge, and couldn't get any thing but a white overexposed ball at 1 millisecond.Do I need extra ND filters beyond the ND3 allready in the Lunt wedge.

Thanks

GUS.K

To GUS.K, I used 1/200 sec @ 200 iso, normal filters in my Baader wedge. Also canon 550d camera. Cheers, John W.
