She's either an alien or channelling Maria Callas.

Dad recently gave me his old 78 rpm records he collected during WW2 when he was in New York at that time. So I have been listening to Duke Ellington all morning.

A Mott the Hoople compilation. Didn't they epitomise an era.
Graham Pushee (Julius Caesar). Just beautiful.
Johnny Marr. Well what can you say
And the original and the greatest. The Church.

Thanks David,

Dad was in the RAF stationed in Canada flying a Catalina aircraft looking for U-Boats in the great lakes. Whenever he got a weekend pass he drove to New York to visit all the night clubs there. He was lucky and got to see all the famous jazz bands of that era, one of his favorites was Fats Waller playing in Greenwich village. Fats produced over 4000 records in 10 years of his career.
He handed down to me 400+ records, which I am gradually saving the audio to my hard drive. Most are in good condition and scratch free.

While observing I usually have the radio on either 95.7 ABC Classics or the local 88.0 vintage FM. Last night while waiting for clouds to clear the local station was playing the Idi Amin song from the 1970's. I thought it was very appropriate considering what is happening to the despot Mugabe in Zimbabwe right now!

As usual, the local university radio station 2NURFM (103.7 FM)

They play mostly 70's and 80's music, always mellow and relaxing.

Try it ... http://www.2nurfm.com/

@ Martin, I saw Billy Thorpe in the early Aztecs a couple of times around the Sunbury era, still have the original Hoax is Over Vinyl album with the censorship beeps. Saw him again when he returned from the US, he was brilliant.
The Live at Boggo Rd Jail DVD is worth getting, his version of Fleetwood Macks World Turning is amazing.

Anyone else into his music ?

I have 3 ' black and white ' video clips featuring his songs....

Poison Ivy ( 1964 ) .... and ... I told the Brook ... and ...Twilight Time ( from Brian Henderson's Bandstand 1960's )

If you had a No 1 song on the charts in those days, it was called ' Hit Pick of the Week '

Col......
