Gaming paddle and eqmod

This problem has only popped it's head up in the last 3 - 4 months. I use a x box gaming paddle to move the scope when I'm at the finder scope to get it on target. It use to work fine and I can't think I've fiddled about with anything, but now it will loose all it's setting randomly, (in game pad configuration all the setting are blank, also it won't allow me to populate it again) it may happen when I fire it up or after 1 hr or so. The only way I can get them back is to shut the whole system down and re-boot then they may or may not come back. To say it's driving me mad would be an understatement

I use an ol’ game pad on my NEQ6 under EQMod - no issues.

Powered hub/ usb issues?
The Nintendo basic handpad I sometimes use also seems temperamental.
