Lewis looks so different to what I imagined him to look like.

Thanks Col,

NHK have some terrific "how things are made" mockumentries from time to time. As we don't have a single TV tuner in the house, it's Japanese TV on the screen every day.

I think I'd have to sell a kidney before getting one of these though

Now we know why anything Takahashi is expensive .. everything they make is labour intensive. Traditional lathe work .. sand casting.

Great video - I’d assumed the metal work would have been CNC machined from a solid block.

Collimation of the TOA was also more analogue than expected.

I reckon the mount at the end carrying the yellow epsilon was an old Astro Physics

Great post. Interesting to see the final light dust off of the lense with a fibre cloth. Sand casting is made to seem so straightforward.

Nice video, thanks for sharing.
Comments saying that it is the best. LZOS according to some make the best optics (Russian) and Televue use them - any experience?

I doubt that TV have ever used LZOS..... Stellavue made some scopes with LZOS optics and some William Optics also sported them as did Officina Stellare.....

Back on topic, great video, I like their traditional methods...
