The Needle's Eye Galaxy

NGC 247 - about 7 hours luminance and 3 x 1 hour RGB with ZWO 1600MM-C and RC8 on a Mach1.

This was at a dark sky site last weekend. The seeing was terrible, and I should've got more colour! But did my best with what I had. I love the collection of background galaxies in this field anyway.

Full res on Astrobin here. Comments welcome.

That is not too bad Disco, not bad at all. The small galaxy chain looks awesome!

Thanks Colin, Marc, Mike, Bart and Kevin.

I've reprocessed the image a bit on Astrobin to try to reduce some of the color halos/bloat on the stars. Hope it is a bit better.

There is less bloat now so that’s an improvement

That's excellent, Paul.

Lots of gorgeous background galaxies, including the special chain toward top right.

Perhaps a touch of colour noise. That can sometimes be controlled by deconvolving and wavelet sharpening the L, but wavelet smoothing the RGB, and then combining.

Top notch image. Lovely.

Given the data this is pretty good Paul. Loads of detail in the galaxy. Might well be my next target with the RC12. Must get up to Bendleby again sometime.
