Rho Ophiuchi and Blue Horsehead

This is a two pane mosaic I've just completed of Rho Ophiuchi and the Blue Horsehead.

It consists of 8 hours of integration under Bortle 4 (SQM 21.3) skies.

Luminance : 1115 x 10 sec
Red : 80 x 30 sec
Green : 80 x 30 sec
Blue : 150 x 30 sec.
Hydrogen Alpha : 50 x 3 min.

I used an ASI1600 MM-Pro & 8 position EFW with ZWO LRGB and Baader Ha filters, coupled to a Samyang 135mm F2 DSLR Lens. @ F2. All frames used gain 76 offset 20

My mount is a Skywatcher EQ6-R and ZWO 290MM Mini / ZWO 30mmF4 guiding combination.

Capture software Sequence Generator Pro, Ha frames guided with PHD2, integration and mosaic creation in AstroPixel Processor. Final touches & saturation boost in Photoshop.

Thanks very much Marc. Yes one of these days I'll try it with the refractor once I figure out how to properly frame / platesolve mosaics.

Thank Colin. The big TIF file looks so much better. I've started work again at the same resolution on a 1 x 7 of the Orion region that I began last year, that I hope to eventually expand to 3 x 7. It astounds me the amount of thought, planning and processing required for doing these. I dont know how you manage your gigapixel versions !! They are very inspiring.

That's superb Kelvin

(BTW: you've killed it for "everyone" .... setting a high bar that is. We'll have to out-mosaic your mosaic)

Best

Thanks JA. I think there are plenty of others who have out-mosaiced me - this is only a relatively easy two-pane. I haven't done so well with larger ones mainly due to mis-management of all the data files. I find it so much easier now that I am (usually) doing just one filter per imaging session.
