Hi All, I'm new here. I really want to get an easy to use 6-8in scope, which I can adapt to take some photos, but mainly just view. I need some advice on selling a Meade 200LX 10" with a lot of accessories, that my Dad and I purchased several years ago, second hand. It is WAY to complex for us as beginners, hence I have set it up once and used manually a few years ago.
I want some portability to take camping and easy set up.
I am thinking the Celstron Nexstar Evolution 8 Edge HD with Starsense. Due to its better Astro ability than an 8SE.
I am also trying to work out what I have got is worth. I cannot remember what we paid, I think my Dad paid more than he says from a friend.
This is the list below on what we have. My best guess from looking around is about $7,000;
Meade 200LX GPS 10”
Meade AutoStart (2x hand controls) and LPI imager
Has the Peterson clutch upgrade plus bobs knobs attached
Metal dew shield and Flexi type shield plus a 10" Orion dew zapper
Meade counterweight system
Peterson easy placement plate
Piggyback Meade camera adapter
12v and mains Meade power cables (plus a Projecta battery charger)
Moonlite SCT focuser with control box for multi speed settings
Full Losmandy mounting blocks,125mm rings and dovetail plate for piggybacking a small refractor and 2D counterweight system plus a losmandy camera holder with angle settings.
Meade superwedge fitted out with a Mitty kit that has improved adjustments.
Orion 80mmED refractor
Meade giant field tripod
840 ToUcam pro modded version
Lymax Cat cooler
Eyepiece 1 – TELE VUE 4.8mm NAGLER
Eyepiece 2 – TELE VUE 7mm NAGLER Type 6
Eyepiece 3 – TELE VUE 22mm NAGLER Type 4 (2.0”)
Eyepiece 4 – TELE VUE 12mm NAGLER Type 4 (2.0”) (sm scuff on outside)
Meade Series 5000 Enhanced Diagonal 2.0” 99% Reflectivity
Professional custom case for the LX OTA
Sorry, not prepared to give a dollar estimate on the LX 200. Like many on this forum I am a big dob and refractor person. Keep all the Meade LX200 stuff together, and separate the rest. The eyepieces will be easiest to sell.
I’d keep the ED80 and the eyepieces. This could form the basis of a future simple and effective system. Good for visual and possible imaging.
I had and used many Meade SCT’s over the years. Sounds like your setup is complete and well above the standard kit.
