5d mkI for w/fields

Am considering a 5d mkI for wide field tripod shots, both night sky & landscape..is there something else I should consider around the 1000 mark? The lack of live view doesn't really worry me

You simply cannot go wrong with that camera.

It's one of the finest systems Canon has ever made.

It is a portrait killer, and, I'm still on the lookout for one for myself. There is just /something/ about the quality of files that it puts out. Skin, in particular, is just magic.

I don't know anything about 'em, sorry.

as long as you're comfortable without liveview then it's a definite yes. the mki may also have a little amp glow.. not sure if they'd got rid of that by then but for $1000 you'd be laughing. i'm surprised astro folks don't consider that more often given that price!

Nice. I'd like one of them, too.

I just sold mine for $800, it was in very good condition. They are a beautiful camera. Shutter like a machine gun...

my 5D mk1 was intensely good... for $1000 they are a great buy...

A D2X is a great camera too.. a D2Xs is an AWESOME camera but for the price, then the difference in price between that and the 5d, and the difference in the overal quality and prices of the lens systems you really cant go past the 5d and L series lenses...

My personal opinion anyway (I currently own a D2Xs, love it, but wish I had my 5D sometimes.... )
