Proms today 22nd Aug.

Fri 22nd Aug, 11.30 am. Saw some nice prominences on the Sun's eastern limb today. This single exposure image was taken thru a Solarmax II 60 mm scope with a canon 550d camera. Thanks for viewing. John W.

Nice shot John. I've just purchased a Solarmax II 60mm filter set to attach to my Skywatcher ED80. The weather has only allowed me to do some visual obs since I got it, but I'm interested to see what I can do with my Canon 70D. What exposure/ISO did you use?

Hi Peter,

It's not a cheap excercise. I bought the filter/blocking filter set from B&H Photo Video in the USA: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc..._II_60_mm.html

which works out to about $2K AUD with postage. Unfortunately I then discovered that, while the site says there are adapter mounts ("New Product: Not Yet Available") they do not and will not exist for the ED80. Meade apparently have no intention of making these commercially. I had to have one especially machined, with some assistance from Merlin (Ken) on these forums. That cost an extra $185. Had I realised that at the time I probably would have just bought a Solarmax scope.
