Ngc6188 - Ara Nebula - Nb

Viewed with my 304mm Dob 24/06/2006

NGC6188 is located in a rich part of the milky way in Ara near the border of Norma. Due to the bright stars of the open cluster NGC6193 this Nebula was difficult to discern. But that all changed when I applied my beloved OIII filter and SV 20mm eyepiece. With the filter the nebula was readily visable and presented some fine detail particually with the aid of averted vision. The Nebula is elongated North-south and is brightest at the west side of its accompanying cluster(NGC6193). The Nebula has a curdled structure with dark tendrils visable.
