NGC3372 - Carina Nebula

I've picked up this hobby last month post lockdown and got out for a night's imaging last week in Sydney. This was my third outing with the gear but my first with the Optolong l-eNhance filter, which made an impressive difference shooting under Sydney LP skies and with a 70% moon.

Managed to put 90 minutes onto Carina Nebula, my longest integration so far.

The file size for attachments is quite restrictive so larger version here also:https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...2c357ca7_o.jpg

Equipment used

SkyWatcher Esprit 80
SkyWatcher EQ6-R Pro
ZWO ASI533MC Pro
ASI120MM Mini
Orion 50mm Mini guide scope
Optolong L-eNhance filter

30* 180" lights
30* 180" darks
30* bias

I'm new to this too, and I'd certainly be happy with that result.

Welcome Craig.
That is an excellent image you certainly bring a whole new meaning to beginners section..I have been trying for years and can only hope that one day I can do as well.
Fantastic.

Thanks for that, appreciated, although coming from a conventional photography background I was probably a lot more familiar with Photoshop than many beginner astrophotographers may be. Although I am quickly learning that PS cannot be relied on in isolation for finishing an image - I have trials of several software packages active and am enjoying seeing what works for me.

Thanks! I had processed this image several times actually, getting a remarkably different result each time with each workflow. I think I like this one best

Way to make an entrance into the hobby. That's already a frame worthy image. I hope there's a spot on the wall? You should be proud. Excellent work and welcome to the forums!

Great image all round . I would be interested to hear what gain settings you used for that camera.

Nice work Craig, i think esprit 80 is a top scope , thing is built like a tank . I still get surprised at some of the targets I have taken with a 80mm scope .

Thank you. Not sure there is wall space actually, I've got lots of prints up already from landscapes. Might have to make some room Very curious to see how images from this camera print up actually.

Thanks. It was unity gain, although at this point I have no idea if that was the right decision or not..

Thanks. The Esprit 80 has certainly been good so far, although the 120 is on my list!
