Looks like a nice little travelling companion and at that price sure to sell well Morton. As long as the QC is sufficient, it will be popular.

I'm trying to think of some justification to buy one!

I couldn't see anywhere mentioned that it's a triplet? Or because it's a Stellarvue, it's assumed?
Either way I'd love to have one!

Actually, I think it's a doublet. My bad.
But supposedly will be colour-free for imaging.

It's actually listed in their apochromatic triplet section, so I would assume it's a triplet. Love to get one!

Yes, that's why I initially assumed it was a triplet. But I'm pretty sure their previous SV50 apo (doublet) was also listed in that section. Plus, all the other scopes in that section actually have "triplet" or "quad" in the name, so I think the SV60 is probably a doublet.
The site says it has FPL-53 glass in the lens, which would be sufficient for a colour-free doublet at 60mm aperture.

Hmmm, I thought 'quads' were doublets with a built-in field flattener, and 'quins' were triplets with the flattener?

I think that's usually the case, yes. Although Stellarvue did make a crazy 'quad' with a four-element objective as well!

You are correct, it's an FPL53 doublet, Morton.

You can order direct from Stellarvue or someone like OPT. I prefer direct from Stellarvue these days as OPT's shipping costs have increased.

Stellarvue told me today the scope is on schedule for release in mid-August.
Debating whether to sell my ZS66 and get one...

I know. That's the dilemma. But there are plenty of happy FS60 and TV60 owners out there!

Stellarvue quoted me insane shipping prices for the M2 mount + extension column. $380+ for standard shipping. The shipping cost is more than the actual items!
I emailed them because i thought it was an error and was told it was the correct cost. Not sure what they're smoking over there.
OPTcorp works out cheaper

Stellarvue recently quoted $275 for shipping an 80mm scope to replace my 80ED. When I queried it they said they use FedEx after having big problems with other companies. Due to my problems with the old scope they gave me a huge discount on the shipping.
And to be fair to FedEx, the scope arrived in only two days!
But since OPT is quoting around $140 for shipping the M2 and column, I think someone at Stellarvue got that one very wrong - twice!

FYI Stellarvue direct now has USPS as a shipping option.
The shipping cost for the mount i was after has dropped from $380 to $140.
